And I gallon (of water) weighs about 8 lbs
8 pints in I gallon would make it just about 1 pint=1 lb

And just for the record, I once put a foley in a little old woman who weighed about 90 lbs and got 1700 cc of urine out in about 15 minutes. Let’s see you great big pissing frat boys top that.

I had my gall bladder out (the old fashioned way, complete with the big long scar) a few years ago, and spent a week in the hospital. A day or two after the surgery, I hadn’t peed yet, so they decided to catheterized me. The good news is that the nurse they sent to mess with my penis was a lovely tall drink of water. The bad news is that it involved ramming a rubber hose up it.

When she finally was successful (it took three tries with different catheters, and it wasn’t until she uses the really thick one), she decanted me into a liter-sized container. It took a good long time, and I was looking away, but looked again when she said “um, um, UM, OH!.. OK!” I can within a few milliliters of the top. So there you go - it’s close to a liter.

Oh yeah… I forgot about the “quart”. My dad still asks me to get a quart of milk, rather than a litre… But it never occurred to me that the name came from “quarter”!
