Cape Town water: impending crisis

Reviving this thread - hopefully for the last time - to share the news that Cape Town’s dams are full to 100.1% of capacity this morning. And this video of Theewaterskloof, the largest of the reservoirs, pouring over onto the spillway, a sight which has not been seen in 10 years:

Like last year, the rains have been good but not astounding, but consumption has stayed much lower than it was before the drought.

Now let’s hope it will stop raining! :grinning:

The rain’s not so bad, but this wind! Apparently there were 200km/h gusts at Lion’s Head.

Here in CA we have followed Australia’s horrible summer fires with horrible summer fires of our own. Let’s hope we follow South Africa’s welcome winter rains with some of our own this winter.
