# Capturing a Real Audio stream

Good morning,

There are sites (i.e. [Oyez.com](http://www.oyez.com)) with excellent streamed content, but content that I am not content to listen to while contemplating my computer. I’d like to put it on a MiniDisk, take it for a walk or to the fitness center or listen to it while vacuuming. Does my computer (running Win 98) hold the file in a cache somewhere? Is there reliable, safe shareware program that will do this? A setting I am not familiar with on Real Player?

Also, does anyone have any non-contentious amicable comments regarding the relevant copyright laws? I want to use this one time only, for my own personal use. I just don’t want to be in the room with the computer while it is streaming. Am I still within acceptable uses of the material?

I have had mixed success in retaining downloaded audio streams by rummaging through the \Temporary Internet Files folder immediately after the audio has played.

I assume that you, like me, found that when you tried the “save target as” option, all you got was a very small file - the link to the website.

what you might try is hook up a cable from your soundcard out jack into your sound in jack and record it from there. Real Audio doesn’t want you to do this so they make it hard.

Try [Total Recorder](http://www.highcriteria.com/). It’s an excellent shareware util that does exactly what you’re looking for.
