I’ve run across plenty of “humanity is awful and it would be great if we were extinct” people on the left. I’ve just never run across one who actually got violent about it. That said, the modern American Left is both very small and very non-violent (mostly a matter of learned helplessness and despair), so I wouldn’t _expect_ to run across such a person. Rightwing = crackpot Yes. The Right is factually wrong about basically everything it believes; therefore, _everyone_ in it is either irrational, gullible, or a con artist. The former leads _directly_ to the latter. The fact that being wrong _is_ a basic qualification doesn’t leave room for anything else. ---

“relationship issues” could be a lot of things - getting fired for mouthing off to his boss or being estranged from his parents, for examples. There is enough stigma around mental illness already without applying an extremely pejorative label to a young man with depression. ---

Just spitballing here, but we’re lacking a lot of information to make judgements about the identified perpetrator, no need to tear each other up over what is likely a combination of limited information, poor reporting, and ongoing investigation. Some of us keep coming back to the thread (even though it isn’t currently labeled as breaking news) hoping to find out more facts. ---
