Triumph kept it very simple for their sports cars. They had the TR 2,3,4, 5 (aka 250 in the US), 6, 7 and 8. Plus the Spitfire and Stag.

Volkswagen went through a “Wind” phase:

- Golf (after the Gulf Stream)
- Passat (after the German word for trade winds)
- Bora (after the [Bora](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bora_(wind)))
- Polo (after Polar Winds)
- Jetta (after the jet stream)

I first noticed this when they came out with the Scirocco, and I recognized it as one of those warm, auspicious winds (like the Santa Ana or the [Foehn](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foehn_wind))…
