A farmer that I work with (at a factory) once left work suddenly after a phone call. “I’ve got cows out.” was all he said as he hit the door. If a car hit one of his cows out on a street, he would have been liable, as his cows, livestock, were considered property rather than pets. It sounds similar to me. There’s my opinion on that.
