Cardio before Lifting or Lifting before Cardio?

Oh yeah, I understand that. I’m 225 now, I want to be 200 by late June. Whatever reduction that loss does to my physique is good. I’m not trying to just loose my luv handles or anything like that.

Light-moderate cardio has been shown in increase the benefits of weight training.

I’ll dig out the study tonight. By exercising first, you get the muscles full of blood and this makes weights more effective.

Same here. I don’t have any scientific reasons for it, but I always feel like I get a better workout this way.

Basically. The pre-weight cardio is only about 15-20 minutes, not an hour on the elliptical.

My physical therapist has me doing 10 minutes of cardio (recumbent bike) for a warm up, then my strength training (which is about a 30-minute circuit on Nautilus machines) then more cardio and stretching. My second round of cardio is 10 minutes on the treadmill on an incline. That’s an hour, twice a week. On the other 3 days I do very intense cardio (50 minutes on the elliptical) with another 10 minutes of stretching. I couldn’t do intense cardio on the same day I do strength training–I’d keel over.

For the record, I’m female, and I do lighter weights with more reps (18-22), 2 sets.
