# Career Counseling Question

I’m trying to help out my son. He’s a 27 year old with a Marketing a degree. He’s had 3 sales jobs, although 2 of the 3 have been phone sales. I believe phone sales is more like telemarketing and I understand his disenchantment with these.

Anyway, I’m at a loss as to how to advise him. He just doesn’t know what he’d like to do. My wife suggested speaking with a “Career Counselor.” Part of me is a bit leary as I guess anyone could consider him/herself a career counselor.

Does anyone have any experience/insight in this area? Before recommending he visit one I’d like to get to know something about this business. First would be how to identify someone who really knows what he/she is doing.

You said he as a marketing degree; has he tried reaching out to anyone at his alma mater or alumni association?
