Still, an insult nevertheless, and CarnalK is someone who generally seems unable or unwilling to post without respecting other people’s feelings. There’s little disagreement here. And I know it’s coming so I’ll address it now: Yes, yes, I know I’ve said outrageous and offensive shit before, but it’s mostly confined to the BBQ pit, and when it’s not, I’ve been moderated. I’ve only protested my moderation once, and I conceded in retrospect that I was a douchebag about it and have since personally apologized to the moderator in question. ---

I was actually tempted to throw some of it back at CarnalK over that comment, not because it offended me but because I just get tired of his shitty attitude and wanting to insult people in ways that are just within the rules. I chose not to because I just didn’t want to discuss that topic anymore. There was nothing nutritional in those last few pages of that thread - **except for posts coming from people who actually have a background in data science and public health.** When said “Riiight,” I was expressing my frustration with what were frankly pedantic responses (I’m being very diplomatic here, DSeid) in that thread. DSeid was arguing data science with…a fucking data scientist. Telperion and CarnalK were equally egregious in this regard, but making even less of an effort to support it with any kind of rationale or intellect. That thread was already dead because there was absolutely nothing left to debate. Sweden messed up its response to COVID - full stop. There was absolutely nothing left to debate or argue about to that end. We were getting into grassy knoll territory. ---

But taking something that is commonly done, which is clearly perceived as acceptable by a good number of non-jerk posters, and which has never been objected to by any moderator, and turning that into a ban-triggering warning based solely on the poster’s thin ice status, is ridiculous IMHO. ---

Methinks if I tell a stranger that his answer is complete nonsense, he will probably be at least mildly offended. Telling someone that they are wrong gives the impression that you think you know more than they do. It is, after all, _impolite_ to tell people they are wrong, at least in front of others. ~Max ---

Hell, the whole board. Or “your post makes no sense”- that is that exact same meaning as “what are you babbling about?”. And all of those have been used on this board, over and over since time immemorial, with nary a Note even- and now it is suddenly Bannable. That’s just plain wrong. ---

Bans of established members are always the result of a consensus decision among the mods. While we are capable of unilaterally banning, we only do so for spammers and completely-obvious trolls. ---

He had “priors” as the cops like to say. He’s out of warnings. It’s straight into exile after a certain point. ---
