Yes, Mike McCartney assisted with the setup of the house at 20 Forthlin Road. His photographs are featured in the guidebook to the house.
Here’s an article from the Liverpool Echo that shows some of the photos of the interior. Normally, your personal items are locked up when you visit the house and photography is strictly prohibited. At the last tour I did of the McCartney house, the guide was with us 100% of the time so there would have been no opportunity for photos even if someone still had a phone or camera with them.
Paul was able to have some fun while promoting a new album on someone else’s dime. It was brilliant idea to set this up and it’s a lovely video.
'Even thought it’s presented as a spontaneous venture it’s pretty obvious that a great deal of time and effort went into the planning of this. At one point it looks like both of them are reading the lyrics to the new song from a display that is located below the dash to the left of Paul. I’m impressed they were able to keep the crowds low. this must have been a well kept secret.
I suspect it will end up as a stand-alone tribute show to Paul and the Beatles. there has to be more footage and side notes about the exchange. My laptop speakers didn’t do it justice some I’m going to run it through the TV/stereo when I watch it again.
CBS has had a couple of prime-time specials showing past Carpool Karaoke events, so perhaps they’ll do one featuring more footage from this one.
I loved it. I’m not a Beatles fan, but I felt a little emotional about it.
The thing that stood out to me was how it must feel for Paul McCartney to draw a crowd every time hie leaves his door. He even had a story about trying to put on a disguise to get away from it, without success. I’m not crying for him about it, but it must be wearing sometimes. It’s the price of fame, but still.
And that story of him trying to leave the house in disguise was when he was, I think, nineteen years old. So in other words, he’s been dealing with fame, both good and bad, his entire adult life.
McCartney is performing at the Cavern Club this afternoon. Maybe this will be the big break the kid needs to jump start his career.
BTW, not true that no one had a smartphone or took photos. See this Twitter feed, as an example of some photos taken that day.

FYI, on Monday, August 20 at 8pm, CBS is running a one-hour “Carpool Karaoke” special that will feature additional footage from the Paul McCartney episode.
Just a reminder, if you liked the Paul McCartney Carpool Karaoke episode, you may want to watch CBS at 8pm tonight, when they’re broadcasting a one-hour special with additional footage.
Well, hell. The show started at 7 p.m. CDT, and when I remembered to turn it on just now, it’s been preempted by a severe weather warning broadcast.
