Yes we are.

Same as many hotels with a 13th floor do not correctly label it as 13. Instead, it’s called “14.”

There’s a [666 ABC Canberra radio station](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/666_ABC_Canberra) in Australia.

And an [A666 road](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A666_road) in England.

You put your wallet on the other side? I thought you were making a 666 joke about crossing yourself in reverse.

Oh, that’s funny, I had never heard of the connection between 420 and cannabis culture. Guess I have led a sheltered life.

[420 to Indians](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_420_of_the_Indian_Penal_Code) (‘char sau bis’ in Hindi) is a slang term used to refer to fraud and con men. It has been somewhat broadened in popular culture to refer to anything shady or untrustworthy.

Wow, how utterly spooky. And nothing at all to do with the fact that this stretch of highway has [two major T-intersections in less than a mile](http://goo.gl/maps/uV57V), while the rest of Shiprock appears to be mostly straight highways across the desert with not much to crash into.

Last night, on the Funday Pawpet Show (the Internet’s longest-running puppet show) one of the cast told of getting order #666 at a Dunkin Donuts. The guy calling out the order number wouldn’t finish saying it. Naturally, it was the inspiration for a [drawing](http://archives.pawpet.tv/cache/2014/2014-05-04/OrlandoFox%20-%20The%20donuts%20are%20worth%20it_795.png) in that night’s art jam.

Here in Minnesota I see (or at least notice) many cars with 666 in the license plate number. I wonder if anyone can request a different number if that was offered. (Also isn’t 888 an unlucky number to some?)

One day I saw a car with 666-ABC where ABC are my initials. I was so tempted to buy that car just to get its plates.

I think you’re confusing it with 88 (which is frequently used by Neo-Nazis and such as a reference to Hitler (H is the eighth letter.)

888 is lucky in Chinese culture. It’s 4 that is unlucky (apparently sounds like “death”).

As a result, we have condo towers in Toronto whose floors are being numbered without 13 _or_ 4. Not sure how that works above 39…

Even though I’m not in the least bit a baseball fan I recall a few years ago that fans of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in_sis_ted that the team’s nickname be changed to just “Rays.” The club did so and if I’m not mistaken - voilà! - the Tampa Bay MLB team promptly won the next World Series, seemingly confirming what those people had apparently believed, that with the word “Devil” in its nickname that team would never win anything. ('Course, from my standpoint that “logic” suggests that that team would win EVERY World Series after the word “Devil” was dropped from its name but that clearly hasn’t happened, so…)
