Cast Helen of Troy

>Orlando Bloom for Paris! Ha! Perfect. Just the kind of limp-wristed pretty boy I’d see Paris as

I’m somewhat disgruntled by the whole pretty elf thing.<

Astorian presents an interesting take on the characters.

Yes Eve, I can see Joan Crawford at Agamemnon’s bathtub with an axe. “No <whack> more <whack> psychic <whack> girlfriends <whack> ever!”

Brad Pitt better hit the gym if he’s going to be convivcing as Achilles. I nominate The Rock to play Ajax.

On the casting of the gods, Brian Blessed as Baccus (or is it Dionysus in greek mythology?) Hmm, I see Bacchus as Blessedlike, but Dionysus as much younger (and trimmer) how odd.

Even better is Thelma Todd trying to drown Jimmy Durante.

Surrounded by assassins!

I nominate Monica Bellucci.

Dingdingdingdingding!

We have a winner.

All of these noms are better than the people I’ve heard the studios considering, your basic 20-something maybe to go with Orlando Bloom’s Paris. No one ever reads the “source material” is my guess. One of the contenders is/was Kristin Kreuk, aka Lana Lang on Smallville. She’s arguably attractive could maybe sorta kinda pass off as Mediterranean, but — not that good an actress. I doubt they would not show Helen. How would they manage the mandatory love scenes?

I can’t quite but Brad Pitt as Achilles, either.

my pick for Helen

Isn’t Helen of Troy airing on a cable channel soon?

Who’s playing Hecuba? Cassandra? Aeneas? Anyone else read Firebrand by Marion Zimmer-Bradley?

I just looked up the cast for USA’s miniseries on IMDB, but the only name I recognized or can remember was Rufus Sewell.

Oh, yeah, And Stellan Skarsgard.
Their Helen is an english Actress named Sienna Guillory.

I totally like Pitt as Achilles. He can do both moody pretty boy, and psychotic killing machine.

I am disturbed by the fact that Patroclus is way down the cast list and played by an utter unknown. His relationship to Achilles is key!

God lord. With Adrian Paul, Sean Bean and Orlando Bloom in the movie, I would surely have a religious experience everytime I saw the movie. (Which would likely be as often as possible)

astorian: Helen’s looks would not have been fading. You forget that she was immortal. Clytemnestra was the mortal female born to Leda and Tyndareus. (The same deal worked with Castor and Pollux; one was immortal and one was mortal; I forget which.

She definitely retained her looks and charisma long after the Trojan War. Reread the section of the Odyssey where Telemachus and his companion visit Menelaus for information.

I was just about to say the same thing, Peyote. If she ever does fade, it’s a long, long time after Homer last saw her. On the other hand, though, she should not look twentysomething. Contrary to what Holywood seems to think, it’s quite possible for a woman over forty to still be stunningly gorgeous.

Apparently the movie PTB have found their Helen. She is Diana Kreuger, a sometime ballet dancer/model/actress. Not surprisingly, she is very young (looking) and probably cast to look good next to Orlando Bloom instead of preserving accuracy.

Sofia Milos, of course.
