Okay, I hear that they are trying to get Damon and Affleck to play Kirk and Spock and apart from Affleck not being able to actually act, think they are both just a little too old for an “Academy Days” film. (oh, lord, I just flashed on an Animal House star fleet academy idea – some things just shouldn’t be in your brain).

So, cast this beast.

My personal thoughts are they need semi unknown or little known actors from television or B movies to move into those roles.

Kirk
Spock
Scotty
Uhura
Checkov (probably too young to be in this film)
Sulu
McCoy
Nurse Chapel
Yeoman Rand

Aren’t most young actors just too pretty for these roles?

I’m gonna give it some thought and be back later with some suggestions, but I’m screaming that Damon and Affleck are even being considered for this.

Kirk: The guy that plays Iceman in the X-Men movies.
Spock: The guy that plays Logan on Veronica Mars.
Scotty: One of them hobbits, the Scottish one. 'cause he can do the accent.

Can we vote for casting the idea into the sea?

I think [Gabrielle Union](http://imdb.com/name/nm0005517/) would make a good Uhura. And I’d like to see [Ian Anthony Dale](http://imdb.com/name/nm1406333/) as Sulu.

How about Jim Caveizel as Spock?

Well, he’s proven he can take a licking and keep on ticking – without going all emotional on us. (sorry, couldn’t resist – still love the OW! poster)

An intersting choice. I’m thinking the age range needs to be in the mid 20’s at the latest – though Spock can appear slightly older due to the Vulcan aging process.

I’m still looking about.

Better toss the producers and director overboard too, just to make sure. Seriously, this idea makes me queasy. Kirk, Spock, and company together in Starfleet Academy? Star Trek meets _Tiny Toons_ meets _Beverly Hills 90210_. This can’t possibly end well.

Dump the whole idea. The main characters shouldn’t meet until _TOS_. If they want to have a cameo by someone they say is a young Kirk, fine. But cast a bunch of unknowns, and tell a story that doesn’t rely on canon so far. Be original, for Og’s sake! For once in the history of Star Trek, be original.

I think the only series that had a chance to be original at this point was TOS, after all, it had no predecessor…

However, your point is very good… there is a wealth of things alluded to in the TOS stories that would make excellent movie material, that would not require even so much as a cameo of a TOS era personality (save one, Sarek), and could serve to revitalize the entire thing…

The main thing I want them to forget is 95% of what they attempted to do with Enterprise.

Kirk = Kermit
Spock = Gonzo

I’ll stop now.

(Hey, it’s a better idea than a serious TOS Star Trek prequel movie)
