I know of one cat – belonging to a friend of my folks’ – that survived a fall from a 14th-story balcony. Lost some teeth, broke a leg, and put a -huge- dent in some poor fella’s MG. And my sisters cat, “Spooky” used to have a habit of hurling itself at the window-screens in her 6th-floor apartment. Twice, it “surfed” or glided a considerable distance on the screen, landing in the middle of traffic on Stoney Plain Road, (which I think is 8 lanes- I forget.) Anyway, the third time it wasn’t so lucky. Silly-assed cat. ---

I’ve read that cats are more likely to survive higher than lower falls. It gives them time to splay-out and achieve their maiximum wind resistance. I don’t remember if that window of opportunity is reached within 16 floors, though. ---

It just fell? All on it’s own? And at the time you happened to be close enough to look over the balcony in that 5 second window before it hit the ground? Really? Wow, that’s pretty cool. So **What Happened**? ---
