You’ve all heard of the super expensive coffee made from coffee beans that have passed through the digestive system of a Civet cat? I’m about to try some. Review to follow. ---

I wonder how many things you have to pass through a civet cat’s digestive system and then eat before you find the one that’s improved by it. ---

Wow. Just wow. I can see why people like this stuff. I’ve never had coffee that tasted so good. Smooth and rich, extremely dark and fragrant. No bitterness. I normally like my coffee like Mr. Wolf – lot’s of cream, lot’s of sugar (& lots of booze, if I can). This is great black. I wouldn’t think of adding anything. I think that if I could afford it, this is the only coffee I’d ever drink. This owning-a-coffeehouse thing has it’s perks! ---

I’ve had coffee that tasted like poo. It was kosher-for-Passover instant coffee, so it was expensive, too. Maybe it had gone through the digestive system of some sort of cat, for all I know 😃 Probably not a civet cat, though. ---

This is one of those “Who the F\*ck thought of doing that first” Kinda things. Someone, somewhere, had to go to the pile of poo, say to themselves, “Hmmm, looks like it was eating coffee beans, I wonder what would happen if I brewed that up and drank it”. :eek: I’ve been hard up for coffee before, but WTF!!?? The Brilliant twist, of course, is the ability to sell said beans for beaucoup Bucks! ---

I don’t like regular coffee at all, so I’m not at all tempted by kupi lowak coffee. I suspect that I’d agree with the review Dave Barry gave it after trying some – I think he said that the way to describe it was “Imagine what you _think_ coffee that’s passed through a civet cat’s digestive system would taste like. This is worse.” ---

I’m a big fan of gourmet coffees and particularly like the various Central American and Carribbean coffees. Yeah, Jamaican Blue Mountain kicks ass, although I almost never buy it because of the price. So I’d like to think I’ve developed something of a palate for good coffee. And I’ve tried kopi luwak once. To be honest, I thought it was, well, crap. Some of the nastiest coffee I’ve tried in my life. So maybe it _is_ for people who don’t like regular coffee at all. ---

I drank about a dozen cups of Blue Mountain a day while we were in Jamaica. And I’m really not a coffee person. Hooray all-inclusives! ---

Ralphs only had it in two-liter bottles, which went flat quickly. Had to throw a lot of good cola out.
