I don’t know where “delusions of grandeur” comes from. They just knew I had a thick skin and no reputation to protect. I can’t speak to the truth of Dio’s claim, but it doesn’t strike me as implausible. Of course it’s plausible (and my crystal ball’s broke so I’m taking Dio’s story at face value). I just think it’s shitty. And I’m a little suprised Dio would agree to it, because if you asked me “What would Dio do if…” my guess would have been that he’d say, “No, post it yourself if you feel that strongly about it.” ---

Message board soap opera morphs into cyber-comedy! I love it. :rolleyes: Yes, it “is” the Internet, and no you do not have the right to not be offended. You have no control over anybody here, mods, members, or apparently yourselves in some cases. Here’s an interesting angle on the ignore function. There’s alot of posting going on in this fairly active board. Ever wonder what you might be missing? If you are glued to it enough to not be missing anything, I pity you. But here’s how it works for me. After awhile I have identified enough personalities whose utterances do not normally fit my opinion of anything I am interested in reading or knowing. Quickly scanning down the first page of a new thread that catches my eye for whatever reason reveals whether or not I will start reading it or move on. Oddly enough, this one contains very few of my ignored’s. Very odd, that. :dubious: ---

I would never betray any names, but I think some people on this board might be surprised at some of the posters who have PM’ed/emailed me over the years to say they’ve agreed with me about certain things but didn’t want to say it for fear of getting piled on (the poly thing in particular seems to generate a lot of secret support). Now I will either be accused of lying about this, or thinking it makes me some kind of hero. Neither is true. I don’t think there’s anything heroic or courageous about posting unpopular comments on an internet message board. It’s just the internet. ---

I didn’t say anything about why I’m popular or unpopular, so I don’t know what you think you’re arguing with. I’m just rebutting the suggestion I’ve seen that I think I’m heroic or “have delusions of grandeur.” I don’t. Having said that, quite a lot of what pisses people off really is my opinions, _per se_. That’s far from the only thing, but it’s disingenuous to say it’s not _anything_. ---

I really feel that secret support is no support at all\*. If my fear of a pile on causes me to keep my trap shut, then my trap is shut and top secret CIA messages of support, sealed with a ring pressed wax is useless. Why even bring those PMs up at all? As is my wont in these Dio threads, I do admit to still being a fan and not wanting to see you go. \*I mean, it is support in that it may make me feel better to get a secret PM of support, but it doesn’t count for me to run back to the thread and say, "Hey! I’ve got annonymous support! ---

For instance, I am of the opinion that “polyamourous” people are immature. That opinion, in and of itself, drives people nuts.
