I live on the Gulf Coast and am worried about the Hurricaine. If it comes my way, I will be working 24/7.
By the way hi everyone!! Just joing the web site.

If there were such a thing as a category 6 hurricaine, it would have been Cameille that hit Mississippi in the late 60’s
Exactly what I was going to say. 190MPH sustained winds and 25 ft storm surge. Absolutely nuts.
In the western Pacific, they call those cat-5+ storms “super typhoons.” Papa Tiger has been through more than one with 200-mph+ winds. He says the difference between a 160-mph storm and a 190-mph storm is that a 190-mph storm can drive water right through a poured concrete wall. Like his apartment.
Chances are slim that Isabel will come into the Gulf, badboyz4, but it’s a good idea to have your evacuation plans in order…and let’s hope that she follows the historic path of most of the serious Atlantic storms and just turns north when she hits the Gulf Stream and doesn’t land ANYWHERE!
I hope she turns north. I hope she eventually turns as to not hit the U.S.
I live in Mobile, Al. Frederick was one of the worst storms I remember. I was only about 3-4 when Cameille hit.
I hope Isabele does not hit the US at all…
If it hits here, I will be at work until who knows when and I have vacation property in Gulf Shores, Al. Who knows when I will be able to go check on it.
Grr… damn high pressure system sitting over us up here in MA seems to be forcing Isabel up the coast and according to the last weather report I read will keep it from being flung out to the east Looks like she’s going to nail the east coast something awful!
Every time I look at an update it seems more likely she’ll hit further north. Looks like we New Englanders better bone up on our hurricaine prep!
The Weather Channel dubbed her a ‘supercaine’
sigh
My ex’s evil parents live right smack in the middle of the Weather Channel’s current projected path. Bwahahahahahaha!!!
Okay, I know, that’s selfish and immature of me. And I really do hope she downgrades before she hits land – or even misses altogether. But an evil little part of me is cackling gleefully…apologies to any Dopers in the path of this bitch!

Not good. Va. Beach has been spared from bad storms for some time now, decades infact. I’m moving in this storm it seems.
Tunabreath, I empathize. I live in Chesapeake, just down the road. Been through plenty of hurricanes elsewhere, but this would be my first from this close to the coast.
Since I had my life royally screwed up by hurricane Iniki in Hawaii 11 years ago, it is most certainly not too early for a hurricane! Having survived one category 5 hurricane, I’ll be happy if I never have to go through one again. Good luck, folks, and batten down the hatches.

Last forecast I saw was that the centerline of the projected path was headed for Cape Charles and the Chesapeake – but with a 30-degree possible path on either side of that, meaning us Carolinians aren’t out of the woods yet.
Oh, and Siege? You’ve got the Alleghenies to blunt the impact – but the northwest tip of the five day projection of the possible impact area touched Pittsburgh!
