Yes, I’m a Neo-Nazi as evidenced by my lack of outrage at a foolish chant made by high schools kids at a football game. It’s all quite good fodder though, for the resident Dawkins-turned-Islam-apologist to get all high and mighty. Zzz. ---

Then that team’s rivals use anti-Semitic/Nazi symbolism and chants to express their antagonism. AFAICT, **the whole phenomenon involves few or no actual Jews in any capacity**. It’s definitely offensive, and deeply weird, but anti-Semitism _qua_ anti-Semitism it ain’t. ---

But given that I live in a country in which a major sport team’s actual name is a deeply offensive racial slur, I’m really not sure how I feel about the Ajax nickname. ---

The Utrecht supporters are not opposing Amsterdam Ajax (self-identified by the nickname “Jews”) because they’re anti-Semitic: rather, they’re using anti-Semitic chants to express their antagonism to Ajax. If the Amsterdam team used the nickname “Irish” instead, the Utrecht supporters would be chanting insults about potatoes and “micks” and “bogtrotters” and so on. What they’re determined to shit on is not Jews _per se_, but whatever identity happens to be associated with Amsterdam Ajax. ---
