Ours likes to sit in the middle of the passageway to the kitchen, then twitch her tail over to whichever side you try to walk around her on. It’s like she’s deliberately trying to get stepped on.
That’s a definite dare.
That movement reminds me of a runner, shuffling their feet at the starting block, to get good traction. Head down, butt a bit higher, settling their feet firmly on the ground. I’ve assumed it was a way of assuring good traction before they push off and chase down their prey.
