tracer - IIRC, if a member of species A and one of species B can still produce offspring, but the offspring of such matings are invariably infertile, that confirms that they’re distinct species.

Eve, you’re right–the “Cat lady” thing is a generalization. I know that not all cat people do this, but I have yet to meet a dog person who comes close to this. If they’re out there, we should hunt them down with ferrets.
