I am going to NYC with a group of people in a few weeks and some of them wanted to go out to CBGB’s one night. I don’t know a lot about the club besides that it is a punk/alternative live music club. I was wondering if anyone knows how hard it is to get in, is there a dress code of any kind, how much does it typically cost, etc… I am assuming we will not be going on a night when any big name band is playing, and I just want to know what to expect. Thanks in advance for any info…

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I have already visited the web site and read a few reviews by people who had a great time. I wanted to hear from anyone else who has been there. The web site doesn’t really help out much in terms of personal opinions. It’s geared more towards the bands and the music.

My band has played there numerous times, and I’ve been there many many times. You shouldn’t have any problem getting in, and theres no dress code whatsoever. You may have to pay a cover, but it will be under 10 bucks. Beer is pretty reasonable, usually 5 bucks, and they have other drinks as well. The only thing I would add is bring your ID, and enjoy yourself.

The only thing I’d add is that it does sell out from time to time (not often, but if the band is particularly good, etc.)

The club is smaller than you think.
That’s about all I remember from my trip to CBGBs.
