I’ve been following the vaccine roll out and have posted about it in the [breaking news thread](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/coronavirus-covid-19-2019-ncov-thread-breaking-news/847758/6254) in case you want to read more about it. As I noted on 12/25, 1M administered seems relatively low considering the 20M vaccines expected to be distributed by year end.

> Bloomberg has a [vaccine tracker](https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/covid-vaccine-tracker-global-distribution/). So far 1.8M people vaccinated worldwide with 556K in the US. Some of the state totals are really low. That might indicate the snafu with distribution in the beginning or it might just be the timing of the reporting. The rollout of the Moderna vaccine should bump up those numbers along with straightening out the distribution problems with the Pfizer vaccine. As of Dec. 20, 2020

> The US is up to about 1M vaccines administered so far and expects another 4.67M to be distributed next week. I’m not entirely understanding what these numbers mean. There are 15.5M doses allocated, 4.67M doses distributed next week and 1M doses administered. Since the 4.67M doses puts them on track to have 20M doses distributed by year end and next week is year end, it sounds like the 15.5M doses that were allocated were also distributed, but that’s not clear from [the article](https://elintransigente.com/2020/12/u-s-to-distribute-4-67-million-covid-19-shots-next-week/). If 15.5M dose…

The uneven coverage in the states is possibly due to Operation Warp speed messing up the distribution. They have admitted their mistake and [apologized for it](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/19/world/operation-warp-speed-vaccine-delivery-problems.html).
