nice answer with right wing nutcake cecil. nice defense of obama. this from a leftie who probably blamed GWB for everything but el nino. The stereotypes dont feel good except when youre directing them at someone else. Did you just make up that question to sound off on conservatives? What right wing nutcake in his right mind would advocate gas price controls not to be communist, as if you had to answer that question. A long time ago someone asked you about our wealthy country and sharing and you advocated this without actually noting that once you confiscate income at a certain rate, people are not incentivized to work as hard and the economy suffers greatly. Theres also capital flight. But wouldnt it be nice if we could just redistribute. This country is going to heck and obamas re election is just step one. We have a massive uncontrollable debt and a leader who is not a leader, who is a wannabe socialist (would if could) and crony capitalist extraordinaire, no talk of any meaningful spending cuts or what to do with SS and medicare, just tax the rich which apparently is anyone with $250,000 or more in income. Like having 75K sucks badly. why not pick on the 15%? Our credit card is out of control so no I am not happy that a failed president was reelected, its deeply disturbing. The only hope is that his failed policies will actually have real consequences in the next 4 years so he can be remembered as less than a mediocre president, which he has been to date. But please, rub it in to us right wing nutcakes. Wait till your kids and grandkids get the bill so heavily padded from obama. ---

It is helpful to other readers (and our policy) for the first post, starting a thread, to provide a link to the column under discussion. It doesn’t matter how obvious YOU think it may be, it’s helpful to others to provide a link, by not making them go searching the hundreds of columns in the Archives. So, there’s no reason to be snippy at **Giles** for being helpful. Second, I don’t think you’re really discussing the Nixon wage/price freeze. You want to make a political rant, and the place for that is the forum called “Great Debates.” I’m therefore closing this thread, and suggesting that you could re-open it in that new forum. Finally, be aware that the posters here tend to be fairly intelligent, and simply spouting standard political claptrap (whether right or left) is usually met with a fair amount of laughter, not to say disdain.
