Celebrities killed on TV or movies

Neil Patrick Harris in the second Harold and Kumar movie. Well, at least until he cockblocked Jesus and got kicked out of heaven.

Two years too soon.

Do you count John Malkovich’s body being repeatedly occupied by other characters in Being John Malkovich?

Since there have been several zombie references already, I’d like to mention George RR Martin’s cameo in the post-apocalyptic series Z Nation, in which the zombified corpse of Martin blithely autographs any book put in front of him. His human captor is stockpiling signed Martin novels for “when eBay comes back”.

Well, if it was animated, there was a Shatner parody (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) on an early episode of Family Guy, who dies after being run over by Meg. His last words, as I recall, were “Beam me up… God.”

Shatner himself played the bad guy (“General Mortars”) in the parody film Loaded Weapon 1. I recall him dying after being shot in the chest but if he had any last words, they escape me.

Paul Simon once on Saturday Night Live, '85-'86 season. He gets on an elevator and “Sound of Silence” is the elevator music–forever, because he’s in Hell!

Another SNL skit 10-15 years later featuring Hanson, also involving an elevator playing their big hit, but only two of the three Hansons actually die. Will Ferrell as a terrorist is somehow involved.

Snoop Dogg in an Orbit Gum commercial.

Kingsman: The Secret Service has an interesting near miss.

Early in the movie, Mark Hamill plays a scientist who gets killed. Doesn’t fit, obviously, but…

In the comic, the character playing that role is…Mark Hamill. The actor. Who would play the character who replaced him in the story.

Borderline maybe: Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Terry Gilliam (the Animator) suffers a fatal heart attack.

From 1997: Helen Hunt was the host and she and Ferrell played a couple out for revenge on the Hansons for MMMbop! Isaac and Zac Hanson are soon rendered catatonic but Taylor (“the middle one”) is unaffected. The Hansons eventually escape the elevator and Hunt executes Ferrell, who has succumbed to the tune’s catchy rhythm.

Pepper Mill and I saw Deadpool 2 last night. In one utterly hilarious bit in the mid-credits scene at the end (that was apparently a late addition)* they show Deadpool blowing out Ryan Reynolds’ brains as he reads a copy of the script for Green Lantern.

The obscure boyband group Varsity Fanclub appeared in an episode of The Middleman as that week’s villain. The five members of the band were revealed to be alien dictators pretending to be human. They were destroyed at the end.

Jean Claude Van Damme, played by Jean Claude Van Damme, was killed off in an episode of Las Vegas. They had some wacky deaths on that show (like Lara Flynn Boyle’s recurring character being blown off the roof of the casino because she’s so thin), but usually it wasn’t someone playing themselves, just normal characters. But not here, in this universe JCVD wound up dead.
