Gary Foley played an obnoxious young black character in a minor part in Dogs in Space Dogs in Space - Wikipedia. A 1986 Melbourne film set in 1978.

Philip Adams (film critic, film producer, political activist, journalist) wrote that he was worried that Gary Foley would play the Gary Foley part (named “Barry” in the film), too sympathetically. But realized when he saw that product that, of course, Gary Foley - Wikipedia isn’t sympathetic to /anybody/.

Not a film and TV celebrity, but there would have been few Australians who didn’t know the name in 1978.

Matt LeBlanc in the wonderful Episodes plays a fictional version of himself for all three seasons, complete with people asking him “How you doin’” wherever he goes. He also got David Schwimmer and the guy that played Gunther on as themselves, the latter in a funny ep where we learn all the other cast members are still close but can’t stand him, so won’t do a cameo for sweeps on his new show.

It’s been four seasons so far, with a fifth scheduled for 2017.

I miscounted, and I know they’ve got seven more eps to air that they shot this year; sucks that it’s been canceled.
