He had a brief but interesting career as an actor. I was watching **Patch Adams** , last month, and couldn’t get over what a horrible piece of crap it was… Robin Williams being an undisciplined clown, no direction, unbelievable plot, poorly written dialogue, and then Philip Seymour Hoffman gets his big scene, and he nails it! Just an incredible piece of acting, with lousy lines given to him, and a role that is so stereotypical, it was if it had been lifted, detail for detail, from _The Paper Chase_. The only good thing in the movie (outside of your performance Maus:)) Another loss to the arts because of addiction… but this one is very big loss, indeed. RIP, you wonderful, fat, tormented, dedicated hulk of a man. Amd thanks for your body of film work that will live on. ---

Addiction is such a terrible thing. Hoffman had 3 kids and that wasn’t enough for him to stop using heroin. ---
