Is this the most dismal start for the Death Pool or what? Three months in and few celebrities of consequence have obliged us. No, this isn’t a veiled whine because I have no points. I’m just amazed that so quality celebrities haven’t kicked the bucket a fourth of the way into the year. Are they hanging on just to vote in the 2014 off year elections? ---

Right now, we’ve got 49 people on the boards, the leader has 54 points, and no player has credit for more than 2 deaths. [Last year at this time](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=16123988&postcount=1028), we had 95 people on the boards, the leader had 156 points and 5 deaths, 39 players had more than 54 points, and 14 players had racked up points from at least 3 deaths each. ---

Former US Open (golf) Champ [Jack Fleck](http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/22/sports/tennis/jack-fleck-who-won-1955-us-open-in-one-of-golfs-greatest-upsets-dies-at-92.html?_r=0), dies at age 92. I believe he is was the oldest living Major Champ until his death. He beat the great Ben Hogan in the 1955 US Open at Olympic GC in San Francisco. ---
