Believe it or not my mother can recite the whole of that poem by heart. I can only get about 1/4 to 1/3 through it. ---

My kids and I used to be able to, too. It was a 4th grade requirement. I’m glad teacher Gerry E. in San Francisco required it. ---

Justin Gimelstob has tweeted that tennis legend Vic Braden has passed away. I have not found any confirmation yet. He was 85. ---

Geoffrey Holder has died. This one really sucks, that man was a superb dancer, choreographer, and pitchman. I don’t have any news corroboration yet, but singer Billy Vera is reporting on Facebook that Tim Hauser, founder of the vocal jazz group Manhattan Transfer, died this morning. He was 72. ---

He recanted years later after decades of guilt over their death. Whether he recanted because he lied or because he felt guilty about helping with their prosecution. But at this point there is little doubt that the Rosenbergs were involved in espionage. Especially Julius. Ethel’s involvement was probably minor. Watch _Heir to an Execution_. It was a documentary made by their granddaughter. After being told by her father that his parents were innocent she was stunned when one of their associates admitted that they passed information to the Soviets. Even the Rosenberg family now acknowledges that Julius at least was a spy but they still believe the punishment did not fit the crime. And more importantly I believe Greenglass was 3 points old. ---
