Recently, perhaps in January, [Janis Joplin’s guitarist](http://www.tmz.com/2015/02/13/janis-joplin-band-founder-dead-big-brother-and-the-holding-company-sam-andrew/), founder of Big Brother and the Holding Company, had a heart attack and died in his wife’s arms. Interestingly, he was worth _ **27** _ points, so there is an odd symmetry there. ---

There was a catastrophic double helicopter crash in Argentina containing the crew and contestants in a European reality series. Ten people died, including three French Olympians: Sailor Florence Arthaud, age 57 Swimmer Camille Muffat, age 25 Boxer Alexis Vastine, age 28 ---

According to [the DeathMistress’ tallies on New Year’s Day](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=18018491&postcount=474), 16 players had Terry Pratchett. Including very few near the top of the list AFAICT, so those who had him will be moving up in the standings. ---
