His character, villain Stefano DiMera, is widely believed to hold the soap opera record for returning from the dead, having died and returned at least a dozen times. ---

I saw that movie when I was eight years old, so I remember only bits and pieces of it, and not the ending. I ought to watch it again one of these years. Looking it up on IMDB now, I see it was based on an Edward Abbey novel, which I hadn’t realized. So that’s another good reason to watch it, then read the book. ---

Interestingly, the _Hollywood Reporter_ website has a slideshow of “Notable” deaths from 2016. The number of slides - at one slide per person - is 181. Has there been a year with a higher count? ---
