The 2008 Death Pool discussed the issue of Steve Fossett, who disappeared in '07 and was discovered a year later. No one picked him, so it did not matter, but I think the first rule applies: Strickland is ineligible because there is considerable uncertainty about his aliveness. If a person is not reasonably obviously alive, they should not be eligible. If they go missing in December, after someone has already picked them, they would still not be eligible, in the same way that having one’s pick kick off in December makes them ineligible. There may be some leeway in the last few days before our DM’s birthday. ---
