Michael Chamberlain has died of complications of leukemia, aged 72. You might not know the name, but he was the father of Azaria Chamberlain, the baby infamously eaten by a dingo. ---

AIUI, if he were to be executed this year, it would count, since he was not under the Death Penalty during picks. ---

The closest turn-around I can think of off the top of my head is Tim McVeigh, who was executed 4 years after conviction. I’m sure there’s shorter periods (especially in the Old West - if pop culture is to be believed - or during times of war for acts of treason), but I can’t recall any without research. ---

Then I understood it incorrectly. Root still isn’t a bad pick for next year, I think the chances of him surviving to his execution date are slimmer than most. ---
