From the same link, Ex-Kings, Rangers coach Tom Webster dies at 71. Pat Stapleton, longtime Blackhawks defenseman, dies at 79 FWIW, these people are connected with the NHL. ---

Pat (Whitey) Stapleton was from my hometown. Iā€™m saddened by his passing, although at 79 he had a pretty good run, or skate. ---

All joking aside, in the 72-73 season when Whitey last played in the NHL there were 16 teams, only three of which were in Canada: Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. Anyway, it doesnā€™t matter lots and lots of Canadians have never played on a Canadian team. In a 31 team league today only 7 teams are based in Canada. No big deal. ---

This is a bit of a bugger. Tim Brooke Taylor, the UK actor and comedian best known for the comedy troupe _The Goodies_, the radio show _Iā€™m Sorry I Havenā€™t A Clue_, and the TV series _Me And My Girl_ has [died aged 79](https://www.chortle.co.uk/news/2020/04/12/45861/tim_brooke-taylor_dies_at_79) from COVID-19. What a sad way to end a stellar comedy career. ---

[Timothy Brown](https://us.cnn.com/2020/04/11/us/timothy-brown-dead-nfl-mash-trnd/index.html), former NFL player and actor passed away at 81. He was probably best known for his role in MASH, and on the show during the first year. Unfortunately, the character nickname was so offensive it wasnā€™t even mentioned in that CNN article, just referring to Capt. Oliver Harmon Jones. ---

Apparently the name was so offensive that you couldnā€™t even mention it in your post. FWIW, His nickname was ā€œSpearchuckerā€ Jones. Guess I am naive, never heard ā€œspearchuckerā€ other than watching repeats of MASH, and never knew that it is considered ā€œRacistā€. BTW, the CNN article has been updated to say he was 82 and not 81. Just in case it matters. ---

Itā€™s also apparently mentioned in the movie, but I donā€™t remember. Iā€™m guessing it was a joke by the author (and by extension the screenwriter) as a subversion of the slur. ---
