Howzabout letting the deadline slide but not allowing any entries that include people that have already died this year; e.g. no one can put Ray Walston on their list now. I think your original rules could cover that but maybe not explicitly. Might mean more work for you though ---

Wow, tied for first which is already much improved over last year’s debacle. I’d buy Al McGuire a drink for helping vault me into the lead, but I guess that won’t be happening. Too bad though, he was one of my favorite broadcasters. ---

Bummer. I have pictures of Al bouncing me on his knee, back when I was a wee lad. He was pals with my parents for awhile. And to think the fellow would show such a discourtesy as to not inform me of his iminent demise! Well, I’ve still got Eminem. ---

Already we’re off to a better start than last year. As posted above, Al McGuire’s death scores 28 points for Lamar Mundane and Mullinator. Bottle of Smoke came close to scoring 62 points when Steve Irwin was bitten by a crocodile, but apparently the croc was only snacking and let Irwin go after chewing his leg. And Drain Bead is undoubtedly upset over not picking teenaged singer Michael Cuccione who would have given her 84 points this month. ---

Dillon Ripley, Smithsonian Michael Smith, drummer, Paul Revere and the Raiders KC, presumably survived by the Sunshine Band Also in the news: Sultan of Brunei arrived in Oklahoma City for treatment of an “undisclosed illness.” And the Prime Minister of Japan now refuses to resign in spite of his continuing illness. Macaulay Culkin appears to be quietly suffering through the incurable pain of separation, no doubt thinking that his entire world has irrevocably crashed to the ground about him. We sincerely hope that he does not turn to drugs, especially the hard ones like heroin or barbituates, for solace in his time of need. ---
