How embarassing. First I misspell ‘because’ and then I pick someone’s who already dead. And now I’ll have to look at that post all year. That’s what I get for rushing through my list. An hour after posting, I started thinking I had read about Tsongas dying. I was just hoping I was wrong. So I’ll scratch out Tsongas and substitute Princess Diana. What? She is? Damn, you’d think it would have been on the news or something. Okay, I’ll go with Rodney Dangerfield. ---

**Little Nemo** , thanks for doing this. After reading the 2001 Deathpool thread yesterday, I woke up in the middle of the night and started furiously writing down names for 2002. My list is eerily similar to yours, which was probably being posted _as I was scribbling_ mine. (Cue Twilight Zone music). Anyway, here’s mine: Muhammed Ali - boxer (b. 1942) Anna Lee - actress (b. 1913) Gerald Ford - former President, U.S. (b. 1913) Nelson Mandela - former President, South Africa (b. 1918) Mikhail Gorbachev - former leader, U.S.S.R. (wow, haven’t written those initials in a while! I seem to have a thing for former leaders. b. 1931) Umberto Eco - writer (b. 1932) Teresa Wright - actress (b. 1918) Sandra Day O’Connor - Supreme Court Justice, U.S. (b. 1930) Peter Falk - actor (b. 1927) Betty Ford - former First Lady, U.S. (b. 1918) Richard Pryor - comedian (b. 1940) Paul Simon - former U.S. Senator (b. 1928) Paul Simon - singer (b. 1941 – hey, once I listed the Senator, I had to include him. It would have killed _me_ if the wrong Paul Simon had died in 2002). I guess we only picked four in common **Nemo**. At least my former Senator and Democratic presidential candidate is still alive. 😉 (I only picked him because I sat next to him once on an airplane.) ---

I was going to email you to suggest we have people email their picks to you; then have you print them all in a thread on a given date. It seemed to me that a lot of people last year read the thread and culled their picks from others’ imaginations. That bothered me. (Probably not as much as it would bother you to do all the work I suggested above. So I’ll shut up now.) Anyone foolish enough to follow my picks is assured a goose-egg, as I’m zeroes two years’ running. Sure terminally ill people go to Lourdes; but when they get _really_ desperate, they call me up and beg me to put them on my CDP list. I’m the one who brought to this thread the innovation of picking a race-car driver (young people in dangerous jobs). While the racing track has brought the demise of drivers each year, I’m still stuck in low gear. Got close this year when I picked Sterling Marlin, and he was involved in the crash that killed Dale.
