I’m going to go for more points per death, rather than the popular less points for obvious deaths. I didn’t look up all the last names. Just typing the group name into google has already soiled my googling record enough. So, here we go: NSYNC’s members: 1. JC 2. Justin 3. Joey 4. Chris 5. Lance Backstreet Boys: 6. AJ 7. Nick 8. Okay, I’m in. After much wrangling: Katharine Hepburn (b. 1907) Fay Wray (b. 1907) Elia Kazan (b. 1909) Ronald Reagan (b. 1911) (actually I think Nancy’s going to follow him soon after, but she’s not on my list) Olivia de Havilland (b. 1916) Kirk Douglas (b. 1916) John Paul Stevens (b. 1920) Stanley Donen (b. 1924) Johnny Carson (b. 1925) Harlan Ellison (b. 1934) Dudley Moore (b. 1935) Richard Pryor (b. 1940) Muhammad Ali (b. 1942) Strom Thurmond: too obvious; not enough points Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Jack Palance: all getting up there, but they’re tough and in good health (far as I know); I’m betting they’ll make it another year. I even considered Jack Nicholson as a wild card…nah. Marlon Brando? Mmmmaybe, but we’ll give him a pass this year. I had James Garner and Fidel Castro, but had to cut somewhere. Dick Cheney is surrounded by Secret Service guys and gets the best possible medical care. I’m taking a chance here. Michael J. Fox is gonna hang in there. This _is_ gruesome. Glad to see you’re enthusiastic, iampunha, but thirteen’s the limit. Maybe you could donate a few of your picks to Bosda; he came up short. People have asked what they get for winning this contest. Some people have suggested monetary prizes. Those people are welcome to send their money to the winner if they so wish. However, I do agree that those of us who won’t be winning the big prize need something to comfort us during our cold and lonely nights. So, in keeping with other suggestions, I’ve added some extra awards. They may not be “Best Picture” but “Best Sound Effects in a Foreign Language Animated Feature” is better than nothing. So this year, we’ll be giving out the following additonal awards: The “Quantity not Quality” Award - for the person who picks the most dead celebrities regardless of their actual point value. The “Inside Track with the Grim Reaper” Award - for anyone who picks a dead celebrity that no other player picked. The “Opening Kickoff” Award - for whoever picks the first celebrity to die in 2002. The “Final Hours” Award - for whoever picks the last celebrity to die in 2002. And four very special awards to be chosen by an open vote on this thread. Anyone can nominate another player and everyone can vote on who will receive these awards. The “Make a Wish” Award - for whoever’s picks most reflect the apparent hope that those celebrities die. The “Dead or Canadian” Award - for whoever’s picks surprise the most people by the fact they’re still alive in the first place. The “World Famous in Poland” Award - for whoever’s picks are the most obscure. The “That’s Not Funny, That’s Sick” Award - for whoever’s picks are in the poorest taste. ---

So has anyone here ever nominated the same person several years running, and the person just _would not die?_ Just askin’. To clarify: Are the awards for first and last dead celebrity of the year given to people who happened to pick the F&L celebrities to die, or to the F&L celebrities to appear on somebody’s list of nominees? ---

Ok, a cow-orker and I came up with these… 1.Mariah Carey (Kinda surprised at how many others picked her. What’ll it be? OD, Suicide, or car wreck?) 1. Gary Coleman. (In a shoot out at the mall? Ok. Here are my guesses, in no particular order. 1. **Bob Hope** - Yeah, little point value (good gravy that sounds terrible!) but I really think the old guy can’t hang on too much longer. 2. **Ronald Reagan** - Ditto. 3. **Robert Downey, Jr.** - I think he’s going to crack again. 4. **Elizabeth Taylor** - I think this may be the ‘shocker’ if it does happen. 5. **Bea Arthur** - Totally random. 6. **Johnny Carson** - Ironically, I was just thinking about this the other day. 7. **Bob Dylan** - Contributed by my mother, whose exact quote was “oh, that hippy druggie guy who can’t sing or talk”.
