I suppose this could also go in IMHO I am totally baffled by the (physical) appeal of Jon Hamm. Everyone-- including many straight guys-- seems to think he is drop-dead gorgeous, but I think he looks way too much like Fred Flintstone. ---

Damian Lewis has weirdly sculptured eyebrows that look penciled in and that . . . thing. . . on the lower half of his face. That hole where his mouth should be. What the fuck IS that? It is so scary and creepy I can barely look at it. Robin Tunney has a face so asymmetrical it makes me uncomfortable. ---

I’ve never gotten the appeal of Rene Zellwigger. She has piggy little eyes and a weird, unattractive smile. On the male side, and this would get me strung up in some places, I don’t find Johnny Depp attractive either, especially when dressed up as Capt. Jack Sparrow. The grease! The smarminess. _shudder_ ---

Angelina Jolie. Her face is OK, but the rest of her? Those tattooes, those broomstick limbs roped with veins and muscles - she looks like a walking ghoul. It offsets any prettiness, but maybe that’s the attraction. ---

Not sure how you can be hot and not hot at the same time. You can definitely be hot, very hot, without being pretty- Pippa Middleton is IMO a prime example. Steffi Graf is another. I have read that the late 18th-century radical British politician John Wilkes was downright ugly, but his charm was so completely irresistible as to render most women sexually defenceless. One of Wilkes’s titled political enemies is supposed to have said to him: “You will die either of the pox (VD) or on the gallows.” To which Wilkes replied: “That depends on whether I embrace your Lordship’s principles or your mistress.” ---

On any given random network sit-com, drama or infomercial, the lead actresses (and usually the supporting ones as well) are all much more attractive than Angelina Jolie is, has ever been or will ever possibly be. I can’t ever remember so much hype about a single person’s physical beauty that is less deserved than the adulation heaped on “the stunning” Ms. Jolie. (although Halle Berry came close; another moderately attractive woman who according to the Entertainment Industry is supposedly a Living Goddess) ---
