Paige’s answer, “That plane”, is not as stupid as a lot of people may think. The famous “Spruce Goose” was a long time resident at Long Beach.

The original liner _Queen Elizabeth_ was built in the 1930s, used as a troop transport during World War II, and then entered passenger service across the North Atlantic. When transatlantic air service started becoming practical in the mid-60s, she (along with the _Queen Mary_) was retired and eventually sold. During a refit in Hong Kong, the ship caught fire, capsized and sank in the harbor. You can see it rather prominently in _The Man With the Golden Gun_. More details [here](http://uncommonjourneys.com/pages/qe/qedemise.htm).

The _Queen Elizabeth II_ still exists. It’s the last ship offering transatlantic service, from New York City to Southampton; a liner, as opposed to a cruise ship.
And Celebrity Jeopardy on SNL is one of the most painfully unfunny things I have ever seen.

Norm MacDonald’s Burt Reynolds impression is classic. I agree that those sketches are the best SNL since the 70s

I was going to mention that, but **EJsGirl** (now) lists her address as Newport Beach, so I assumed she knew that. But she used to be in Hawaii, IIRC (why am I the only one stuck in the Midwest!?), so maybe it wasn’t a valid assumption.

And Paige Davis could out perky Katie Couric. So maybe there’s a brain circuit interference between perky and smart or at least perky and trivial. She’s still cute, which is what seems to count most in celebrities.

I’ve never had a high opinion of trivia, especially as a measure of smarts. I think Ben Stein is the only person I’ve heard equate trivia with intelligence and his intellectual career ain’t exactly Nobel bound.

I can’t say that I think any less of a celeb. for doing poorly on a quiz show. They’re taking a big risk because of the public nature of their reputations, IMO. Plus, they’re bad at trivia…so what? It’s not like they’re spending their last dollars at a casino, or something equally stupid. (My apologies to those with gambling addictions.)

OK, maybe I should cut Paige some slack. Perhaps she’s not from the west coast, or has never heard of Howard Hughes, or has never heard of the Queen Mary (which would have helped her, as long as she knows that WE have never had a queen named Mary, or a queen).

Nah, never mind. She’s a dingbat.

Okay, maybe I should have cut Paige some slack on the Queen Mary question but some of the other questions that she and others missed (especially in the category “you should know this stuff”) were a little scary.

[small hijack]
Last night they had a good funny response, in the category “Brain surgery for dummies,” the question was “someone performing pituitary surgery would approach it this way, the same way you might be paying for it.” The response? “What is out the rear?” Too much laughing to continue.
