Everyone’s seen those SNL sketches right? One of the running gags is Sean Connery’s hatred of Alex Trebek (“you’ll rue the day you crossed me, Trebek!”). Does that stem from something real, or is it something the writers made up for the hell of it? Either way it’s damn funny :). ---

I was reading through some transcripts, and supposidly the begining of “Connery’s” hatred for “Trebek” was when “Connery” was down $800. and he kept thinking that he had to pay: Sean Connery: [angry] The hell if I’m gonna pay you a bloody $800! Alex Trebek: Please, be assured, Mr. Connery. This is for charity, it’s not your own money. And it is still your board. As for the real Connery; not sure! SC: The day is mine! I’ll take Movies for $400. AT: (reads the clue) This 1962 movie starred famous secret agent James Bond. (no one answers) AT: Mr. Connery, you might wanna guess on this one. SC: Don’t think I’m stupid, Trebek! You wouldn’t know it either if you didn’t have those little cards! ---

A bit off the Connery topic, but we would be remiss not to mention the brilliant portrayal of Burt Reynolds by norm McDonald in the same sketches. On an episode of Rock’n’Roll Jeopardy (a “real” show!) on VH-1, the contestant buzzed in but couldn’t think of the answer, and just blurted out, “A leather glove!” That’s good TV.
