I do know a few of the people involved, as friends of friends, and I think you are right, to a point. As I mentioned, these people had worked on projects together before. Seth Rogen was writing scripts for Judd Apatow when he was 16-years-old, over a decade ago. 75 percent of the cast is basically a big incestuous comedy family. I don’t think any of them has a problem with women or female characters (well, nothing that would make them stand out in Hollywood), necessarily, but if they hire an actress from rom-coms and a TV soap and can’t figure out why she’s not riffing with the best of them, they may want to re-examine their casting process. _That being said_, even with his successes, Apatow was still taking a huge chance casting Rogen as a believable male lead, and was under intense pressure to pair him with someone smoking hot and marketable. He’s mentioned before that some of the only notes he got on the series _Undeclared_ (a show that did a relatively good job of giving female characters storylines and funny dialog) were about the sex appeal of the actresses. But I think both sides are re-interpreting the actual shooting of the movie based on their later impressions (and, in Heigl’s case, in the context of her experiences auditioning and working as an actress). ---

Craig’s also the only (I believe) late night host who is still actively doing standup, plus Craig has no problem with zinging celebrities in much the same way that Griffin does: by telling a humorously exaggerated but essentially unvarnished truth about them. See, for example, the references to Kenny Rogers being all but unrecognizable from all his plastic surgery or the growing resemblance between Paul McCartney and Angela Landsbury. And that’s just from his show; the standup act is even stronger. ---

That’s because any hit with only “jerk,” only my first name, or only my last name will still register. When I did _“my name” jerk_, with the quote marks forcing all results to contain my complete name, it got zero hits. ---

I had the “pleasure” of getting stuck behind James Woods for about 20 minutes at a post office here in his home town. He kept apologizing to us for taking so long, but each time he did so, he mentioned how very important the things he was mailing were, which kind of defeated the purpose. Also weird, he had a flunky with him - why bother with a flunky if you are going to mail things yourself? ---

He posed for group pictures, too. I still don’t like the man politically but I have a huge warm spot in my heart for him personally - the guy really went above and beyond to thank us and make us feel appreciated. Also he is very, very tall and quite magnetic in person, which you’d never think to look at him on TV. ---

Re: Jay Leno’s money - the book I’m currently reading says the same thing, that he doesn’t touch the Tonight Show money. I think it’s possible - he apparently doesn’t do anything at all except work and play with his cars. ---
