Yes, yes i know, a thread subject that deals with a predominantly auditory phenomena isn’t the best idea for a _text based_ medium, but bear with me here…

what celebrity/fictional character voices can you mimic well, accent, mannerisms, vocal inflections, etc…?

I can do a fairly passable British accent (it’s actually fooled a couple Native Brits, they probably weren’t paying attention or otherwise distracted)

I can do an almost pitch-perfect copy of Scorpius’s (Farscape) vocal inflections and mannerisms, the accent isn’t too close, but i’ve got the inflections and mannerisms down reasonably well

I can do a reasonably decent mimic of Freddy Krueger’s voice, enough to scare my cow-orkers late at night…

so, what are some of your better mimics?

Strongbad.

I used to leave Strongbad messages on a friend of mine’s phone. She and her roommates thought I actually did the voice of Strongbad on the website.
I do, in my opinion, a fantastic drunk Elvis impersonation.
I’ve heard others disagree but they are dumb.

Not sure as far as speaking voice goes, but I can sing a pretty dead on George Thorogood, Chris Cornell, Zepplin era Robert Plant, or Slayer’s Tom Araya, depending on the song. I’m sure there are others, but those are the ones that jump to mind.

Oh, and I can do a far from dead-on but still terribly amusing Sean Connery.

I’m terrible with most impersonations. The only two I do well are Robert Preston and John Hurt, neither of whom sounds anything like my normal speaking voice.

Then there’s my Foghorn paradox: When I try to imitate Foghorn Leghorn I fall flat, but when I try to imitate my father I do a really good Foghorn Leghorn.

I do a fairly decent William S. Burroughs.

I can also manage a lampoon of Satchmo that usually astonishes people. (Probably because I’m 5’4" and weigh 120 pounds. Heh heh.)

Peter Lorre, but that’s sort of fish-in-a-barrel.

I can sing “Love on the Rocks” pretty much exactly like Neil Diamond. I’m serious. For that song only, I can make my voice a jaw-droppingly faithful copy of Mr. Diamond’s, and I’ve got several witnesses to prove it.

As this is my only impressive musical talent, I’m more than a little bummed. I don’t really _like_ Neil Diamond, you see. I was trying to make _fun_ of that song, not turn myself into a ND clone. Couldn’t I have been the guy who can do the spot-on Chris Cornell impersonation? No! Apparently not!

“Luuv on thuh rox…ain’ no big surpriiiize…”

My natural voice is kinda low and breathy, so I can do a pretty good Clint Eastwood by clenching my jaw.

I did both Jeff Spicoli and Vito Corleone rather well when I was a teenager. My father had me do Vito a number of times for his friends and our family, some good memories there.

My 4-year-old neice laughs like mad when I do Yoda for her, more because the voice is odd rather than that I do it all that well.

Unfortunately, though, I _look_ just like Peter Lorre.

I can’t do very much with speaking but I can sing exactly like Cher. The only thing is that I can only do it LOUD and my face looks super-weird when I do it. I can also sing like Jack Black from Tenacious D but that’s because sometimes he sings like Cher.

I do really good vocal imitations of Jean Harlow, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Marlene Dietrich, Lyda Roberti, and I can sing like Alice Faye and Kate Smith.

Sadly, no one knows how good I am . . .

Unfortunately, I have a some spot-on imitations of some annoying voices:

Adam Sandler (it’s weird, it’s eerie, it’s accurate)
Eric Cartman
Karen Walker (Megan Mullally’s character on Will & Grace)
Sakura Kinomoto
Chii (my husband finds these last two adorable, but no worries, I don’t do them in public)

Actually, I don’t do _any_ of them in public. It’s for the benefit of society. The only people who have heard them are friends and family, and only with much begging on their part and being damn good and ready on my part. I don’t bark on command.

I always crack a friend of mine up by doing Chef’s parents from South Park. You know, the Loch Ness monster and “three-fitty”.

I can do a decent Cartman. And I used to do Bobcat Goldthwait long ago, but that just starts hurting the throat… 😉

I actually can do a pretty good Tyrone Biggums, believe it or not. I just can’t manage to say “And that was the first time I sucked a d&\*k for crack!” with a straight face, however. Anyone who can pull that off has got real talent.
