I just heard that [NAME] died yesterday. I’m 1) INCONSOLABLE WITH GRIEF 2) THE first/second/third/fourth/fifth TO POST THE SAD NEWS HERE 3) STRANGELY UNMOVED. [NAME] died 1) QUIETLY IN HIS BED 2) AFTER A LONG STRUGGLE WITH substance abuse/his ex-wife/the Times crossword 3) IN A HAIL OF gunfire/adverse criticism of his second album. Although I 1) NEVER MET HIM PERSONALLY 2) NEVER HEARD OF HIM BEFORE READING THE OBIT, I am 1) TYPING THROUGH MY TEARS 2) PLAYING HIS MUSIC IN A CANDLE-LIT VIGIL 3) WONDERING IF THIS TIE GOES WITH THIS SHIRT OR NOT. [NAME] will be much-missed by 1) GRIEVING BLOG COMMENTERS 2) THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE 3) CHI-CHI at NED’S ALL-NUDE REVUE 4) HIS CREDITORS 5) ME, HIS NUMBER ONE FAN. My thoughts are with 1) HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS 2) THE GIRL IN ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE WITH THE COLORED TIGHTS 3) CHICAGO CUBS RELIEF PITCHING STAFF at this time. They felt it was important to say something when they heard of her death. I think it’s a little tacky to belittle that just because it’s conveyed in a medium and register that you don’t care for. ---

I will say that Barbra Streisand’s two tweets were actually educational. First, she said she was shocked because Donna looked well when last they met, which suggests that Donna’s illness was (hopefully) not a protracted and lengthy horror. Second, she said that she loved recording a duet with Donna. What? Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer? To the internets. I never knew, but now I do. So I can’t get too mad about celebs being just like everyone else on Twitter, really. I actually enjoy it, and sometimes it’s rather useful. ---

Speaking of celebrity tweets about famous singers dying, check out [this article](http://popcrush.com/kesha-tweets-whitney-houston-death-24-hours-later/) describing the outrage that happened after Whitney Houston died. Kesha didn’t make any mention of it until nearly 24 HOURS AFTER the news was announced. How disrespectful! Why didn’t she drop everything and send out a tweet immediately?! :rolleyes: ---
