# Cell phone inferno?

The latest one from the new paranoid obsessions crowd: There’s an email being sent around to the effect that sparks from cell phones are setting the cars of women pumping gas ablaze. Naturally, no actual news reports are cited. Anything to it?

Sounds like you have a combo of two items. The one \*\* Fernmeldetruppe\*\* mentioned which is pure glurge, and [this one](http://www.snopes.com/autos/hazards/static.asp) which appears to have some truth in it.
