I don’t care so much about what sounds are available, I just want to be able to program different sounds for different callers, so that way I can tell whether I should ignore it or not without getting up. ---

Isn’t this more or less what most of them sound like anyway? I would like the 20 second beginning bit to Sweet Jane by the Velvet Underground. Also, there are Mobiles (cells) on the market where you can record your own ringtone directly into the phone. Panasonic definetly did one a while back. ---

I’d like one that swears at me profusely something like “f’n jerk, aswer the phone ya’ f’n a-hole” OR I’d like one of a woman who sounds like she’s about to have a KILLER orgasm. something like “OH GAWD YEAH, YEAH GIVE IT TO ME BABY, OOO YEAH, OH GOD YEEAH!” ---

My first choice would be _Peter Gunn Theme_. Second coice would be _Pennsylvania 6-500_. But for non-musical rings, I like a nice blood-curdling scream. The realistic sound of gunfire might be amusing as well. ---

Sounds of a small vicious animal snarling and chewing through things would be fun. My phone would always be in a purse or school bag, and would take me a little while to reach. Long enough for everyone on the bus to take a few steps back… ---

My new one came with a cow moo, a dog bark, a cat miaow and a frog croak - as well as polyphonic tunes - oh that’s what I was going to post in the D’oh thread … Distracted? What were we talking about? ---

Forget funky ringtones, I want to find a goddamn ringtone that sounds like an actual _phone_. The default ones that come with my phone are all ingratiatingly sappy musical pieces and searching on the web, I cant find a SINGLE ringtone that sounds anything like an ordinary telephone. ---

The newer Sony Ericsson phones, along with the big 3 videophones have a naturalistic old school bell ringtone on them. friend of mine had a digital answer phone on his landline that you could record ringtones on to. so instead of ringing, it went “PHOOOOONE!” in the dullest voice possible. which was a source of never ending amusement. or maybe you had to be there. 😃 ---

My sanyo for Sprint has a real telephone ring. Actually it sounds like a cheap recording of a telephone ring. If I could I would have my phone ring be the five tones from Close Encounters. ---

This is slightly nuts, but the sound that the handcuffs make that Bruce Willis escapes from in the movie Hudson Hawk. My brain seized on this as being the greatest noise in the world for some reason. Other than that, the short horn fanfare from between scenes on the old Batman TV show…where the bat shape comes spinning at the screen. Or the voice of the computer from the movie 2001. “I have a phone call for you Ryan”…that would be super creepy. ---

I love having Caller ID and different rings for different people. But what would be great? When my mom calls, the phone “rings” "_It’s just your mother - go ahead and ignore me. \"_ It’s what she leaves as a message anyway… 😃 ---

Well I got lucky and my cell phone broke. Lucky because I had insurance and the replacement they sent me is 10 times better than what I had. I now have a Toshiba camera/ **video** phone. Like my old phone I can have pictures and ringers specific to who is calling me. I can also have different ringers for the same person dependng on what phone they are calling me from. Ex: GF at home, GF at work, GFs cell phone. (it only uses one phone# mem capacity) I can also make a voice memo and set it up as a personal ringer or have some one make their own so when they call its their voice coming out. As for the special ringtones, many of what has been described above can be down loaded at **[Matrixm.com](http://Matrixm.com)** at a reasonable price. I am sure there are others but this is the one site I have used and still do. If they don’t have what you are looking for you can request it and someone may get it for you or you can set your own up. You can also get pics and games and other stuff. I have among others: Chewwbacca’s roar Homer’s “To alcohol, the cause of and solution to, all of life’s problem” Special Ed (Crank Yankers) - “I got mail. YEAH! I got mail” South Park - “TImmy!!!” J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS They have thousands to chose from. ---

I have what I think is one of the coolest phones ever made- the Samsung i330. Well, it _would_ be the greatest, if it could actually support alternative ringtones. The problem is that it CAN, but that Samsung dumped the phone on the market without custom ringtone support, and without an SDK so nobody can write an add-on that’d do it. But I’m not bitter, dammit.
