It’s like having an open position at a company and accepting any and all resumes and applications. Accepting a resume doesn’t mean anything. Someone will later go through them and reject those that don’t meet the qualifications.
“What do you mean I’m not qualified, you took my resume!”
You don’t accept a resume from someone, make them stand there while you carefully read over it, then tell them, “No thank you,” and hand it back. That would be wrong on so many levels.

True, though Nevada and New Hampshire didn’t make him wait. That’s because he crossed out the words “natural born” on their applications. I took a look at the Arkansas form and it was pretty bare-bones so that might explain things because it doesn’t ask about your birth status.
Anyway I will be interested in how Cenk intends to return this volley, if he even does.

See, you got it wrong. You either are in favor of it for patriotic reasons (What is America about?) regardless of Mr. Musk or anyone else you don’t like possibly taking advantage, or you aren’t, but not wanting to amend the Constitution before X, Y or Z is out of the picture is hypocritical. (But it’s okay, everyone is hypocritical about something, am I right?)

Ballot Access News is reporting that as of yesterday Cenk Uygur is on primary ballots in three states: Vermont, Texas and Oklahoma.

Regarding Vermont, at least, their Secretary of State doesn’t feel that it’s their job to vet whether someone who files to be on the ballot is actually constitutionally eligible for the office. In other words, getting on the ballot there is simply a matter of filing the correct paperwork.

At least in Texas, this seems to be a bit premature, as was the case previously in other states.
The filing date for candidacy was less than 2 weeks ago (and guess who filed on the last possible day?) and the state party hasn’t yet announced the slate for the March primary. There is a presumptive list on the secretary of state page but that’s hardly a declaration everybody has been vetted.
So, I’m wondering how Cenk is supposed to be “on” a ballot that hasn’t been finalized yet. Seems like it’s just an announcement that the candidacy application had been verified as filed, i.e. ‘accepted as filed’, not necessarily ‘accepted as qualified to hold office’

I am writing a campaign song designed to teach people how to pronounce his name. So far:

It rhymes with Barry Schenk
And the C’s a hard J like “jamoke” is
Uygur, Uygur, Uygur
He doesn’t pack a luger
But he still shoots straight and he woke is!
