# Cenk Uygur running for Pres

The cited article contains a lot of info about how some of TYT’s big donors are somewhat centrist democrats, and even one former republican governor. And that a couple of people on their board are centrist / clinton-era democrats.
I don’t want to sound too dismissive, so I will say that this is not _nothing_. It might make us intrigued to see if it has had an effect on TYT’s editorial stance.
Well, as far as I can tell, the article points out **zero** examples of towing the corporate line, or of moving away from progressive causes. The closest it comes to discussing content, is when it talks about the hypocrisy of criticizing Tulsi Gabbard:

Three things:
1. Who cares? Even if this description is accurate, being a bit mean to one (supposed) progressive candidate, once, is falling far short of the kind of example that would be needed to justify the title of the article.
2. I wanted to be fair to [Medium.com](http://Medium.com) as the article is from 2019, so obviously the fact that Tulsi has now made a lurch to the right, and it is trivial to find examples anti-LGBT comments from her now, is very obviously not something that they could have predicted.
However, even at the time of the article it was true that Tulsi had worked for anti-LGBT organizations previously. While she had disavowed such organizations by that time, it’s still pretty misleading to imply to imply to the reader that the accusation of her being anti-LGBT had come from nowhere and her voting record indisputably settles it.
3. They don’t quote what Emma Vigeland actually said. Frankly, given the tone of the article, I don’t trust their summary of what Emma’s argument was.

And that’s fair. I don’t think the article is damning. But I think it does give a reason for doubt.
Also, I’ll note that while I don’t trust Cenk, I don’t think he’s committing fraud or anything. He is looking out for his best interests. Compared to a lot of the political folks we talk about here in P&E that practically makes him a paragon of virtue.

Now that the old headline “Dems in Disarray” is back (see thread Can Biden be replaced?), I thought it would be fun to come back here - don’t worry, I’m not going to suggest Cenk Uygur be touted as a panic move to thwart certain doom, only that he saw this moment coming, fairly or unfairly. We bet on the old warhorse, as we all believed we had to; now we’re reaping the hot wind or some stupid metaphor.
Biden sure didn’t sound so good last night. I hope he remembers going forward that he has to be ready to call out the lies! He didn’t do a very good job of that, did he? Tough call, because you don’t want to be stuck in response mode, but dealing mostly Vision for the Future stuff misses the easy points available to you for reminding America that this guy’s sing-song refrain of “we were the best and everybody knows it”, his deflecting all questions about his criminal behavior - very specific questions about real things we all saw him do - get brushed off with his blanket whine of Joe’s Justice Department has it in for me and everybody knows it! - well, Cenk for one would have been well prepared to slam that snotball over the Green Monster. So please, Mr. President and all your handlers, do a little more to deal with that shit!
And if you have a scratchy throat, be sure to have some Riccolas handy.

No, I think his presidential run days are finished. He got it out of his system. I wouldn’t count out another dalliance with California politics, just because he likes to mingle, but he’s one of those media guys (Chris Lydon for mayor of Boston) who is better at his true calling.
