Cenorship on the Internet.

Porn, of course, is the flashpoint for arguments related to censorship. And it always travels this route arm-in-arm with concerns about the right to free expression of (political) thought. Manny, as is his wont, gave this thread some perspective against the background of cries for NO CENSORSHIP! And I think manny pointed out some areas that are legitimate concerns. I also think that what manny described as actionable concerns for the government are those that we would describe as prosecution of crimes and not censorship as we normally think of it. I don’t think manny was at all close to proposing that your web site must be submitted to some government board and approved for web publication in advance; he merely suggests that if you use a website to commit what is already a crime in the offline world, that evidence should be used against you.

I am firmly in the camp of those who feel it is absolutely the parents’, and nobody else’s, responsibility to monitor what their kids see on the 'net.

And, if you want to visit the censored web, try www.china.com , which is the Red Chinese government maintained site. They’ve got some lonely hearts message boards (or did, last time I was there; it’s been a little while) - it’s a bit spooky.
