Special Thanks to **Bouv** , who inspired this post.

I think forgotten cereals need a thread of their own.

waffelo bills
strawberry shortcake
smurfberry crunch
yummy mummy
tutti frutti werewolf (name?)
Mr. T
team flakes
cookie crisp in all the flavors besides choc. chip (the “merlin” era)
body buddies
crazy cow (choc and strawberry)
pacman

say what you will, but the 80’s were the high water mark for sugar filled Kids’ cereals.

_and prizes you didn’t have to send off for_

::sigh::
you whippersnappers just don’t know what you’re missing.

The Sam’s Club here sells Quisp. It was good cereal.

My favorite is still out there, just not advertised like it used to be:

King Vitamin.

Very much an acquired taste, but…

Ruskets

They were little compressed cereal bricks that you would crunch up into flakes in your bowl. Made, I believe, by Loma Linda foods circa late 50s/early 60s and sold in Safeway grocery stores, at least in our little Oregon town.
Also enjoyed Sugar Pops and Super Sugar Crisp back in the good ol’ days when they put the word “sugar” right in the name of cereal itself. Ah, memories.

C3P-O’s.

Them shits were good. (I’m not kidding, either. It was basically Cracklin’ Oat Bran. 'Cept, you know, with droids on the box.)

Do they still make Count Chocula? I haven’t seen it around. My mom didn’t let me have sugary cereals when I was growing up, either, so when I went to visit relatives for the summer, every year I’d get like 10 boxes of Count Chocula and eat them all in about a week and a half.

How about Rice Krispies Treats Cereal? Do they still have that? I loved that stuff when it came out. So good.

I remember my parents going away for the summer, and I stocked up on Bill And Ted’s Excellent Cereal. It must have been the end of the movie promotion, because I got them like 4 for 1.

It came in different flavors!?!!?? I didn’t know that, I love the stuff (in it’s present day form)!

Anyone remember some cereal that was like ice cream cones, like little scoops of ice cream that were really just something like cocoa puffs and little cone shaped things. I’m thinking late 80’s early 90’s since that’s the time frame it would fall into. I always thought they were wicked good, but they might have sucked (and I was just a kid so I probably wouldn’t have realized it), explaining why they aren’t around anymore.

Cereal has got to be one of my top 5 favorite foods. Man I love it. Pour a big bowl and watch cartoons. Maybe it makes me feel like a kid or something.

As I posted in that inspiring thread Arden…you can get Quisp at [http://www.quisp.com](http://www.quisp.com)

Oh and I didn’t have sugary cereals growing up…usually Cheerios or Rice Crispies or their generic equiv. My mom was cruel.

And both had characters and advertisements created by Jay Ward, the Bullwinkle guy. (From what I’ve read about Ward, he was either a genius, a nut, or both.)

Fruit Brute. An old fave of mine.

On the Quisp front: you can get a Quisp-oid cereal easily. As long as your local grocery store stocks the “bag” cereals. Right now I’m out, but I think it’s from Quaker, and it’s definitely Quisp-ish.

Hey, **Juliana** , I LOVED King Vitamin (especially the commercials - King Vitamin, have breakfast with the king).

Let’s have some tomorrow for breakfast. Should I call you or nudge you?[sup]\*[/sup]

Oh Sweet Baby Jesus. You people _ **LIKED** _ King Vitamin?! I absolutely cannot believe that someone out there actually enjoys that cereal. Blech.
My mom got it once. Once. She wanted it because it had the word “Vitamin” in the title. I wanted it because there was a king on the box, and it had a cut-out mask on the back.
I had a quarter of a bowl, maybe about three spoonfuls, before I decided that there was no way in Hell that I could finish it. My mom said “Oh it can’t be THAT bad,” took a bite, and spit it out. The box remained untouched in our cabinet for months. Finally, we threw it out.
Worst cereal I have ever tasted. King Vitamin. Ick.

Now Nintendo Cereal, THERE was a breakfast food.
