# Certain posts don't fit in screen

This is probably a really stupid question, but I can’t find the answer. Why does every now and then some poster’s post goes way off my screen to the right? Everyone else’s are all within the screen. For example, [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=118152). I could hardly read it trying to scroll over and back, over and back. Is it that they’re composing on a huge monitor?

It’s due to **RickJay** using one extremely long word starting with:  
didthesamethingyou’reaccusingBrownofdoingyousayallliberals…

The software tries to keep the giant single word together, so it extends the right margin out. If he had put a space or two in there, it would have split the word into multiple lines, alleviating the problem.

The

```auto

 tags can cause things to mess up widthways too, as lines are not broken (except at natural hard returns).
```
