I found it an incredibly unlikely scenario. So unlikely that before reading that thread, I had never even considered what my reaction would be. I like to think I’ve put together a rational moral stance, and thought through the consequences to myself and others ahead of time, so I’ll be less likely to do something wrong or hurtful if I find myself in a situation of needing to make a decision. I honestly spoke about my thought-process as I was considering what I would do in that situation and why I was thinking what I was. No more, no less. ---

I haven’t read this entire thread, nor have I read more than bits of the few scattered threads in the past where other posters engage Cesario, but I’ve got to agree with Diogenes re his take on the issue. On one hand, in a strictly objective sense, pedophilia is a sexual inclination like being heterosexual or homosexual except the sexual urge is focused on children as objects of attraction. Is that evil in an of itself? Probably not, it’s just the way he’s wired, but the lack of equality of power in most pedophilic encounters means they are, by their nature, inherently manipulative and predatory to some degree, and that is evil, or at the very least socially maladaptive. Where does the right of person to speak their opinon begin and end? I think for the purposes of this discussion it’s when someone is doing more deliberate “dance puppets dance” shit stirring than encouraging a constructive dialog. The problem is that how are you going to have a constructive dialogue with a person for whom indulging their sexual inclination involves being a de facto predator. All that’s ever going to happen is outrage and a trainwreck. It’s valid, I suppose, for Cesario to say “Well that’s your problem, not mine.”, but I think there needs to be a real world acknowledgement that even with a group of generally progressive, open minded people pedophiles are not going to tolerated even in passing. It may not be entirely fair, but sometimes board admins need to decide when enough is enough. ---
